However, there are many prominent stories, places, events, land markers, and can be seen through these Virtual Museum Tours that are now in progress.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Smithsonian has the largest\u00a0 exhibit, our tours&#8217; excerpts will begin with it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>(Washington, DC)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>Since opening in 2016, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/national-museum-of-african-american-history-and-culture?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/national-museum-of-african-american-history-and-culture?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHdHpnOSBgulO23L9GGLHDI0wEPGQ\">Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture<\/a>\u00a0has become one of the most popular museums in Washington, DC. This museum takes visitors on a trip through time starting with the Black Experience in America with its history Galleries that start from Slavery to Emancipation and then from Segregation to Today. There are also exhibits that focus on Black History in popular culture. You can explore more than 3,500 exhibits online.<\/p>\n<p>1. <strong>Archives of African American Music &amp; Culture (Bloomington, IN)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>The collections in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/archives-of-african-american-music-and-culture?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/archives-of-african-american-music-and-culture?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHBD3jOrMo-h_U7alaFrviOVzRaeg\">Archives of African American Music &amp; Culture<\/a>\u00a0museum highlight African American music ranging from classical, religious, and popular music to include R&amp;B and hip hop.<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>The Museum of African American Art (Los Angeles, CA)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-museum-of-african-american-art?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-museum-of-african-american-art?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEeN23cgTw_oUV2wlaCMaAm6DASyA\">Museum of African American Art<\/a>\u00a0interprets, promotes, and preserves art by or about people of African descent. It was founded in 1976 to increase public awareness of African American Art.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The Gordon Parks Foundation (Pleasantville, NY)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>You can take a trip through time with the life work of famed African American photographer, Gordon Parks.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-museum-of-african-american-art?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-museum-of-african-american-art?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEeN23cgTw_oUV2wlaCMaAm6DASyA\">The Gordon Parks Foundation<\/a>\u00a0showcases Parks\u2019s career, which spans from the 1940s up until his death in 2006, Parks\u2019 photographs focused on race relations, Civil Rights, and urban life.<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>Dance Theater of Harlem (New York, NY)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/dance-theatre-of-harlem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/dance-theatre-of-harlem&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEwrC9-9xShBZBGdKLUI_VD9WeIFg\">The Dance Theater of Harlem<\/a>\u00a0is the first Black classical ballet company and the first major ballet company to prioritize Black dancers. This school was founded more than 50 years ago. There are four online exhibits about the history of this world-famous dance company.<\/p>\n<p>5. <strong>Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (Kansas City, MO)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>You can take a virtual tour of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/negro-leagues-baseball-museum?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/negro-leagues-baseball-museum?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH5FZypfrpNYfvDaS8LRUu8_IOnlQ\">Negro Leagues Baseball Museum<\/a>\u00a0and there\u2019s a short movie introduction into the Negro League Baseball that includes interviews with former Negro League players.<\/p>\n<p>6. <strong>Frederick Douglass National Historic Site (Washington, DC)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>Take a virtual tour of Cedar Hill,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/frederick-douglass-national-historic-site?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/frederick-douglass-national-historic-site?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGztYlk14ov_njayaeD-7AXfxpDRw\">Frederick Douglass\u2019s Historic home<\/a>\u00a0in Washington, DC. Douglass, an abolitionist, orator, writer, and former slave purchased this stunning 21-room Victorian mansion 1878. There are a number of rooms filled with artifacts that are viewable in the online tour.<\/p>\n<p>7.<strong>The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) \u2013 University Libraries [Online Exhibit: African Americans at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, 1892-1971] (Greensboro, NC)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-university-of-north-carolina-greensboro?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-university-of-north-carolina-greensboro?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFbb8aCassZEMu1xEn0zwkobpsbEw\">UNCG\u2019s online exhibit<\/a>\u00a0offers a riveting look inside of the life of some of the African American employees who worked on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. This exhibit features not only photos of the Black workers in the late 1800s but there are artifacts listing how much the University paid some of its Black employees.<\/p>\n<p>8. <strong>The Black Archives of Mid-America (Kansas City, MO)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-black-archives-of-mid-america?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-black-archives-of-mid-america?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHljDGAVSc5JBrkmy4wLqlA44WtoA\">The Black Archives of Mid-America<\/a>\u00a0there are two online exhibits available for viewing: one about famous dancer Alvin Ailey; and the other about the Historic 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and Vine Jazz District in Kansas City.<\/p>\n<p>9. <strong>The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center) (Atlanta, GA)<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-king-center?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-king-center?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHs1FNV8IOFtOoAqigyu-t48Wt2Jw\">The King Center<\/a>\u00a0is part of the memorial and childhood home of Dr. King. This online exhibit contains various letters and miscellaneous documents and artifacts.<\/p>\n<p>10. <strong>DuSable Museum of African American History (Chicago, IL)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>Created in 1961,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/dusable-museum-of-african-american-history?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/dusable-museum-of-african-american-history?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHacu5TFjfiKoEpuQiUdcxB4x3tZQ\">the DuSable Museum of African American History<\/a>\u00a0is one of the oldest museums of African American history. Originally started as the Ebony Museum of Negro History and Art, this museum was the home of the largest caretaker of African American culture until the opening of the Smithsonian\u2019s National Museum of African American History and Culture.<\/p>\n<p>11.\u00a0 <strong>Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site at Moton Field (Tuskegee, AL)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>Take a virtual tour of the primary flight-training site for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/tuskegee-airmen-national-historic-site?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/tuskegee-airmen-national-historic-site?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH1zX8rpRaY6zWjk-juBNMEQ_emNQ\">Tuskeegee Airmen<\/a>, Black pilots of World War II.<\/p>\n<p>12. <strong>U.S. National Archives [Exhibit: Black College Life in the New Deal] (Washington, DC)<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>This online exhibit features fascinating photos of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/exhibit\/black-college-life-in-the-new-deal%C2%A0\/QQV_IP01?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/exhibit\/black-college-life-in-the-new-deal%25C2%25A0\/QQV_IP01?hl%3Den&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238040000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEqP6COUlxOg3B-tTsZGheYIZi1ZA\">Black Student\u2019s lives<\/a> on college campuses between January 1, 1933, and December 31, 1941.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div id=\"m_8841153339479378367ydp6dc92a7cyiv8040191454gmail-main\">\n<div>\n<div id=\"m_8841153339479378367ydp6dc92a7cyiv8040191454gmail-penci-post-entry-inner\">\n<p>You can find a complete list of all of the virtual tours and experiences offered by the United States Civil Rights Trail\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/civilrightstrail.com\/gallery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/civilrightstrail.com\/gallery\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238041000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGoP4wXtgc0GyLNphY_8ix_OCVzxw\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b><img src=\"https:\/\/civilrightstrail.com\/app\/uploads\/2017\/10\/TN_Memphis_LorraineMotel.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/b>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.civilrightsmuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/www.civilrightsmuseum.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238041000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEsUBJOwXSl7jyDwdoxEjcKO0Y0Sw\">National Civil Rights Museum<\/a>\u00a0located in Memphis, TN and serves as not only a memorial but also as a museum. The museum was built around the Lorraine Motel, which was where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was assassinated in 1968. The museum traces the Black civil rights movement. It is filled with so many gems to include: a replica of the Montgomery city bus where Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat and a garbage truck to commemorate the \u201cI Am A Man Sanitation Workers Strike,\u201d which is the strike that brought Dr. King to Memphis.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>National Center for Civil and Human Rights<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.civilandhumanrights.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/www.civilandhumanrights.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238041000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHutTbWz-hOsvxeruAeMp7oESlBYQ\">National Center for Civil and Human Rights<\/a>\u00a0is located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. This museum is a multicultural center and it highlights the Civil Rights Movement and the modern human rights movement. The museum has a Voice of the Voiceless gallery, which showcases the Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Collection.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>International Civil Rights Center &amp; Museum<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sitinmovement.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/no-click.mil\/?https:\/\/www.sitinmovement.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611867238041000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGIBVswIxtgQPa2V19148W3_sLoHA\">The International Civil Rights Center &amp; Museum<\/a>, located in Greensboro, North Carolina in the original Woolworth\u2019s building. The Founders Library holds the largest collection of African American documents, letters, and oral histories about the Black experience.
