NASCAR released a statement professing to be \u201cthankful to learn that this was not an intentional, racist act against Bubba.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"m_6774335466537625505gmail-div-gpt-pb-desk-nr_desktop_728x90_1\">Wallace took issue with the the investigation\u2019s findings, though, appearing on Don Lemon\u2019s CNN show to argue that \u201cpeople want to call it a garage-pull, and put out old videos and photos of knots, as their evidence, but from the evidence that we have, that I have, it\u2019s a straight-up noose.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhether tied in 2019 or whatever, it was a noose. So it wasn\u2019t directed at me, but somebody tied a noose, that\u2019s what I\u2019m saying,\u201d continued Wallace.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN, which reported on the FBI\u2019s determination at the time (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/racing\/nascar\/story\/_\/id\/29354447\/fbi-says-rope-had-talladega-garage-last-fall-bubba-wallace-not-victim-hate-crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.espn.com\/racing\/nascar\/story\/_\/id\/29354447\/fbi-says-rope-had-talladega-garage-last-fall-bubba-wallace-not-victim-hate-crime&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1639840164519000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0FD6-SA4uYjESOHChhA7Wh\">\u201cFBI Says Rope had Been in Talladega Garage Since October; Bubba Wallace Not Victim of Hate Crime\u201d<\/a>), nevertheless placed the incident at the center of a documentary released Tuesday night \u2014 less than a week after actor Jussie Smollett was convicted of staging a fake hate crime against himself \u2014 called <em>Fistful of Steel: The Rise of Bubba Wallace<\/em>, which it promoted using the following tweet, siding with Wallace\u2019s interpretation over the bureau\u2019s:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Last year, a noose was found in Bubba Wallace&#8217;s stall at Talladega Superspeedway. Journalists, he argues are too eager to publish, focused on his race.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/form>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It also included the moving story of Wallace\u2019s cousin, who was shot by police when he reached into his pocket for his cell phone after being asked to keep his hands in the air, as well as a description of the various challenges Wallace faced as he tried to make a name for himself in a sport with few fellow black drivers. Most interesting of all, perhaps, was the interlude about Wendell Scott, the first black driver to win a race in NASCAR\u2019s Grand National Series.<\/p>\n<p>But while Wallace\u2019s journey to prominence in the world of racing is included, the noose incident serves as the film\u2019s climax, and is presented as confirmation of the indictments of America that Wallace lays out as it progresses.<\/p>\n<p>And despite the evidence to the contrary, Wallace and his family continue to believe that a noose was placed in Wallace\u2019s garage to send a message. In the documentary, Wallace submits that the fifteen FBI agents sent to investigate got it wrong, offering of the knot, \u201cthat took time to do.
