After ranking the best in the nation, the\u00a0North Carolina A&T<\/a>\u2018s men\u2019s\u00a0track & field\u00a0team has made history again by breaking the record for the fastest 4\u00d7400 in the world. The four-member team won the outdoor race at the annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the University of Texas at 3:00.23 seconds, according to News &Record.<\/p>\n

Duane Ross, A&T\u2019s director of track and field programs, commented about the win and the future of the Aggies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy for our 4\u00d74 team,\u201d Ross\u00a0said<\/a>, according to North Carolina A&T\u2019s website.\u00a0\u201cThis is what we are supposed to do. We feel that we\u2019re the best in the world at it, so this time and even faster times in the future are expected.\u201d<\/p>\n

Breaking stereotypes ascribed to HBCUs, sophomore Randolph Ross Jr., junior Daniel Stokes, and seniors Trevor Stewart and Elijah Young had weeks before made their school proud at the\u00a0NCAA<\/a>\u00a0Division I Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Indoor Track and Field Championships.<\/p>\n

Per Blavity<\/a>, The Aggies became the first HBCU to win an NCAA indoor title in the 4\u00d7400 since Morgan State won back to back in 1965 and 1966.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are always going to discredit us no matter what we do,\u201d Stewart\u00a0told<\/a> HBCU Gameday. \u201cIt boils down to we\u2019re an HBCU. We\u2019re not supposed to be doing this. It almost forces us to do it bigger and better. But we\u2019re fine with that. It makes us better people, and it prepares us for life after college. Bigger and better is what the world is going to expect from us too.\u201d<\/p>\n

The world has now been served with their history-making win from the University of Texas outdoor races and the official Twitter account for the school\u2019s athletic department celebrated the victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Champs are at again!! And this time they\u2019re doing it on the outdoor scene,\u201d N.C. A&T Athletic wrote in a tweet. \u201cThis foursome just ran the fastest 4\u00d7400 time in the WORLD (3:00.23) at the\u00a0@texaslonghorns<\/a> Texas Relays.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Aggies\u2019 4\u00d7400 relay team ran almost a full second ahead of the second placing team, LSU, who came in second at 3:01.00.<\/p>\n

The women\u2019s team also performed extremely well with sophomore sprinter Cambrea Sturgis winning first place in the women\u2019s 200 meters at the Texas Relays.<\/p>\n

According to the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association\u2019s (USTFCCCA) rating index, the North Carolina A&T athletic team was\u00a0ranked<\/a>\u00a0number two in the nation.
