Dylan Shakespeare Robinson, a 23-year old man from Minneapolis who was caught starting a fire at a police station during a Black Lives Matter protest after the death of George Floyd, has been sentenced to only 4 years in prison.<\/p>\n
Robinson\u2019s sentence came four months after he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit arson. He was also ordered to pay $12 million in restitution and to serve two years of supervised release.<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, Robinson was caught in surveillance footage wherein he appears to light an incendiary device. In a Snapchat video, someone can also be heard calling his name and later on commented on the video, \u201cWe need more gasoline.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, Robinson\u2019s lawyer said he was disappointed at the sentence, saying his client was not alone in the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is bearing the sentence for the other thousand people who participated,\u201d Robinson\u2019s lawyer William J. Mauzy claimed, according to the\u00a0New York Times<\/a><\/i>. \u201cMany others, far more culpable than Mr. Robinson, were not identified. He had no role in throwing any Molotov cocktails or constructing any or building any.\u201d<\/p>\n Robinson was captured along with three other men who also pleaded guilty to participating in the arson.
