12-Year-Old Youngest Black College Student in Oklahoma<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nationwide<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 At the age of 12, Elijah Muhammad has become a freshman at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) making history as the youngest Black college student in the entire state of Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

Elijah, who is being homeschooled as a high school senior, is simultaneously majoring in cyber security at OCCC. He is currently enrolled in 3 classes including Computer Technology, Computer Hardware, and Computer Operating Systems.<\/p>\n

Elijah recalled his classmates\u2019 reactions when he first met them in class. \u201cA bunch of them were like, \u2018how old are you?’\u201d he told\u00a0KFOR News<\/a><\/em>. \u201cOnce I told them my age, they all got surprised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coming from a family of achievers, Elijah\u2019s accomplishment did not come as a complete shock. His older sister, Shania Muhammad, made history just last May as the\u00a0youngest person ever to graduate<\/a>\u00a0from both OCCC and Langston University at the age of 14.<\/p>\n

Their father, Elijah Muhammad Sr., said the siblings always have healthy competition amongst them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he sees her accomplish certain things, he\u2019s like I\u2019m up next and I can do it,\u201d said Elijah Sr. \u201cWe are the cheering section for our scholars.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Elijah acknowledges that despite them being competitive with each other, his older sister is a big help to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a bunch of competitiveness. But she really helps me out with a lot of my studying,\u201d said Elijah, who is on track to surpass his sister\u2019s record of the youngest to graduate in the state.<\/p>\n

Aside from being a historic outstanding student, Elijah is also a three-time state champion wrestler and an entrepreneur with his own clothing line called Smart Boy.<\/p>\n
